How do you start your day?

How do you start your day?  My morning routine consist of a few simple things.  Get up, let the dog out, make a cup of coffee, grab my Macbook and write about anything.  I then take a portion of that writing and present it to you via social media.  By then, baby is usually up, and on with the momlife.

Not long ago, I interviewed an amazing woman on my podcast named Amberly. @amberlylagomotivation (It’ll be released in April)  If you aren’t familiar with her, she has written a book about a medical trauma she went through, her recovery and her continuing journey of perseverance.  True Grit and Grace, out in April.

I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy and let me tell ya, it really changed my perspective about a few things.  But, one thing that really stuck out to me was the fact that she kept a gratitude journal throughout her journey and the impact she shares that it had on her and those around her.

Gratitude is when you make it a point to focus on the good, the blessings, the kindness and the things you are thankful for that are around you, instead of focusing on the bad.  I’m sure for Amberly, some days, it was harder to find those blessings than other days.  But, gratitude teaches us that they are always there, we just need to acknowledge them and appreciate them.

Having said all of that, Amberly has inspired me to incorporate writing in a gratitude journal every morning.  It takes 5 minutes and it’s something I now look forward to and enjoy.

So, I ask.  Do you practice gratitude? Are you able to stop, look around and find the blessings that are surrounding you, even when times are tough?  Have you ever tried keeping a gratitude journal?  If not, I highly suggest you do.  Next to a fresh, hot cup of coffee, it’s the best way I have found to start the day.☕️

xo, Sarah
